Frankenstein – conflict

MAN VS SELF

“Often did my human nature turn with loathing from my occupation whilst still urged on by an eagerness which perpetually increased. I brought my work near to its conclusion.”

“Life although it may only be an accumulation of anguish is dear to me, and I will defend it.”

“How can I describe my emotions at this catastrophe or how delineate the wretch whom with such infinite pain and care I had endeavoured to form.”

MAN VS MAN

““Beware; for I am fearless, and therefore powerful.””

“I swear; and by thee, O Night, and the spirits that preside over thee, to pursue the daemon who caused this misery, until he or I shall perish in mortal conflict.”

“I sickened as I read. Hateful day when I received life!' I exclaimed in agony.Accursed creator! Why did you form a monster so hideous that even YOU turned from me in disgust? God, in pity, made man beautiful and alluring, after his own im- age; but my form is a filthy type of yours, more horrid even from the very resemblance. Satan had his companions, fellow devils, to admire and encourage him, but I am solitary and abhorred.'”
